I am... Poem

I am a member of the MLK Movement
I wonder when the movement will make an impact
I hear racial slurs passing in the streets
I see violence acted upon the innocent
I am a member of the MLK Movement

I pretend that the aggression can be changed
I feel ketchup dumped on me at the lunch counter
I need a napkin to wipe it off
I worry how many will die for this cause
I cry for those in need
I am a member of the MLK Movement

I understand the consequences for civilized disobedience
I believe in what I am apart of
I dream of change
I try to help make that change
I hope colors wont matter anymore
I am a member of the MLK Movement
